Solutions to help maintain a warm backup for your BusinessObjects Enterprise system:

I've tried using the Import Wizard to replicate my Enterprise system to a
backup machine - but it takes too long and can't be automated. Is there
an alternative?
The Import Wizard is a manual process and cannot be scripted. Also, the Import
Wizard manages a lot of problems related to system migration that are time
consuming - and unnecessary for a system replication.
If you have similarly configured machines, maintaining a Businesss Continuity
Planning ("BCP") machine can be automated.
- The Production and BCP machines must be set up essentially the same from an
Enterprise point of view.
- The File Repository System ("FRS") can be replicated using a "net change"
process - delete the files on BCP that the Production system has deleted,
and copy the new files from Production to BCP. This takes remarkably less time.
- Copy the key Enterprise tables from Production to BCP. Database utilities
make this very fast.
- Tweak (a technical term) the database, cluster, and a few other obscure things
to work on the BCP machine.
Voila! The Production Enterprise system is replicated automatically to
the BCP machine. Go home and get some rest.
