The event that triggers my nightly processing arrives at 11 pm, but I don't want reports to run until 1 am (so that the report date is what users expect to see). Changing the time the event arrives is not an option. How can I schedule my reports to run at 1 am?

So the events that drive your system are outside of your control - nothing new there. What is new is CRC's "Forwarded Event" - one of our custom event types in our Event Suite.

Set your existing event to that it "forwards" to a future time - in this case, forward to 1 am. When it's 1 am, the Event Monitor triggers the "target" event, which can even be your original event so you don't have to reconfigure everything.

All my nightly reports are set up for file events. Now corporate tells me that my FTP server is a security risk and I have to remove it. How can I schedule my reports?

Lose the FTP server? Keep your externally triggered events for reports? What you need is CRC's "Database Event" - one of our custom event types in our Event Suite.

Have your external application write to a database table with event names and a trigger value. You change your File Events to Database Events, using our "CRC Event Suite for BusinessObjects Enterprise". Don't worry about having to redo all the schedules - they're set for the event object, not its type. Go for coffee.

I need to trigger events with an external scheduling program like AutoSys. I don't want to use file events (see FTP security risk above), and my applications group wants the trigger to be in the job stream, not in an application - so Database Events won't work. Any options?

You want a process interface instead of a database interface?

Have your external scheduler run our interface program with the event name. You set up or change your events to On-Demand Events, using our "CRC Event Suite for BusinessObjects Enterprise". Don't worry about having to redo all the schedules - they're set for the event object, not its type. Go for more coffee.

When your external scheduler runs our interface program, we log on to Enterprise, find the event (it must be an "On-Demand" event that's enabled), and trigger the event. Your external scheduler has no direct interface to Enterprise, doesn't know the system password, and can't touch anything. Of course, you can view what's going on using your Event History web page.

I want to run reports when either of two events occur, such as whenever the "HR Daily" event or the "HR Weekly" event is triggered. Is this possible?

You want a "logical or" of events. Sure, our "CRC Event Suite for BusinessObjects Enterprise" supports a "logical or" of any combination of events in Enterprise.
